Wedding To Do List Timeline

Wedding To Do List Timeline
How long did it take you to get your wedding photos (digital)?

I’m wondering if I should give the photographer more time or if I should start seriously bugging her. I think I’ve been pretty patient so far. Here is the timeline:

Sept 27, 08 – got married
mid-Oct 08 – 600+ digital photos available to see online
mid-Nov 08 – placed order
Dec 24, 08 – got the order, but it was wrong
Dec 27, 08 – emailed photographer list of mistakes (she lives 4 hours away, so I can’t meet with her).

She said that because of the holidays it’s taking longer than usual, but seriously, it’s the middle of January now. It can’t take that long to print out digital images, right? I ordered about 100 and a CD of all images.

Examine your contract you had with her and look and see what deadlines if any she stipulated for turnaround of products.

As a practical matter though, it should not take this long. You are justified to feel frustrated. I am a professional wedding photographer and my Sept. 27 bride received her ordered products (a disc of images) within five weeks of her wedding.

Here’s what I recommend:

You are going to have to use a little calm persistence. Call her and politely work to resolve the situation. Is it o.k. you are having to make this extra effort? No. Let her know that in a calm but firm voice. Email is not a good way to resolve disputes.

Communicate your dissatisfaction with her customer service but allow her the opportunity to make things right. Any solution has to have a time deadline understood by all parties. If the deadline seems unreasonable to you, ask her why it will take so long.

If she begins hiding behind her voice mail or behind email or the problem persists, let her know you are going to have to share the bad news via theknot.com forums, bridal forums, BBB, any wedding website with vendor reviews.

After that, I would create my own blog sharing my dissatisfaction with other irritated brides. Submit it to the search engines. Chances are very good you are not the only one dissatisfied with her service.

Unfortunately, wedding photography has a TON of fly-by-night operations. I don’t know why so many try to be wedding photographers because it is hard work especially if your client’s satisfaction is job one.
