Attempt at planning a wedding but where do I start start?!?
I am planning on having a feb wedding. All this is new to me. On a budget where do I need to begin the process of planning? I’m getting fitted for dresses tomorrow. I’m having lots of trouble finding a venue. When I type in wichita falls tx on venue sites it puts places like the DFW area. I will have some elderly guests that cannot travel. Also what do I need to purchase. Is there an easy way about putting this all together without a planner? I’ve looked at the checklists I’m just feeling a little overwhelmed right now! I’ve Made my guest list, the number has come up to 52 which is good cause I wanted a small ceremony. How many people should I reserve for just in case? And apparently most of our caterers here are bbq! I dooo not want bbq at my wedding out of fear it will be perceived as tacky! & How does a rehearsal work?? Anybody have any suggestions??
start with a budget. decide how much you can afford to spend and then start finding things to fit within your budget.
you are a little premature with geting the dress. that is somethihg you don’t do until about 3 or 4 months prior to the wedding.
but you need to find a venue right away. here are some suggestions for the wichita falls area.
http://hhbb.3hndesigns.com/ this is the harrison house bed and breakfast in wichita falls. they do very lovely weddings and can pretty much do everything including the catering for you so you don’t have to worry about finding everything on your own.
http://www.wichita-heritage.org/khrental.htm this is the kell house museum. a very lovely spot for a wedding and reception and they rent it for very reasonable prices
http://coyoteranchresort.com/ this place has both indoor and outdoor spots for a great wedding. their chapel is absolutely awesome.
wichita falls also maintains several parks with rentable shelters where people hold lovely weddings, especially at the gazebo, http://www.wichitafallstx.gov/index.aspx?NID=77
you can have a beautiful outdoor ceremony at the falls and then go to one of the shelters for your reception. here is the falls http://www.wichitafallstx.gov/index.aspx?NID=75
you can also rent the log cabin at lucy park for a wedding. http://www.wichitafallstx.gov/?NID=270
if your guest list is 52 people, you should expect to have about 85 to 90 percent of them show up for the wedding. normally it is 75 to 80 percent but the turn out for smaller weddings is normally higher so figure that you will end up with between 45 and 50 guests. don’t forget to include yourself and your groom and your wedding party and any vendors you use such as dj, photographers, the wedding officiant, musicians, etc. you also have to feed these people.
for catering, let me suggest the following: http://campusmenu.com/
or chef’s table gourmet to go which is located at 4531 maplewood ave. 940 691 8100
the rehearsal works like this. you assemble together at the wedding venue the night before or a few hours before the wedding ceremony is to take place. the wedding officiant will give a dry run of the actual wedding ceremony. your attendants will practice coming down the aisle as will any flower girl and/or ring bearer you have. you will practice walking down the aisle as well, along with any escort you are having if any. you have to practice with the music you are planning to have.
also the ushers or groomsmen will practice seating the family members so everyone who is going to be in the wedding as well as the immediate family members on both sides must be present for the rehearsal. after the rehearsal, it is customary to invite everyone who was there, including their partners, to a meal. that includes the wedding officiant.
