Keep up with Vietnamese traditions?
For most of us who live overseas Vietnamese, have you always keep the Tet Trung Thu in Vietnamese tradition, Gio (Cung) Ong Ba Chua, DJI DJI Nha Tho? What about marriage, do you still have two celebrations, one Vietnamese traditional marriage and the West?. When my sister got married, has two different costumes, Ao dai and a white wedding dress. Do you speak your parents and sibblingss Vietnamese or do you speak English? I prefer to speak Vietnamese at home and when I get out even speak Vietnamese with my sisters, except if you are with someone who does not understand Vietnamese and I speak English. Vietmamese When I meet people, I always ask if you speak Vietnamese, I speak Therefore the Vietnamese. And you?
My sister lives in France with his family for the past 28 years. I am very impressed with my niece and nephew can not only talk, but can also write in Vietnamese. When we were kids, my sister sent a Vietnamese boy and Girl Scouts and weekend school to learn Vietnamese. Both are engineers and success in what they do, but when they return, speak Vietnamese to my sister and my brother. In fact, my brother-in-law has a doctorate in the history of Vietnam from France. They then moved to the States, but only lived here for eight years and moved to the south of France three years ago. At home, I do not speak English with my parents or my sisters. I it shows a lack of respect, although they all graduated from college here in the States.
