How to save money on your wedding cake in the United Kingdom

Wedding cakes can be an expensive item in your budget Wedding at a cost of hundreds or even thousands of pounds. An economical choice is obviously to make the cake from scratch you if you have the skills, the time or inclination. However, you might consider looking into the street to find a decent pie at a decent price.

First – Search conventional supermarkets. All supermarkets – Morrisons, Asda, Tesco, etc. to make a series of what they call "a special occasion cakes ranging from 10 very reasonable 20 pounds. Now that all the supermarkets have a "Best" collection, which also tend to make good ice, delicious rich fruit cake. They are usually available in different sizes so that you can in the layers if you want to create a cake traditional multiple levels.

In general, the supermarket cakes are well presented, but they only come in pure white, which means you owe yourself decorating. Fortunately, it's easy to do! When surfing eBay Hobbycraft, you can find the owners and a level selection of brilliant, precious stones and foliage cakes at very reasonable prices. For a white cake, instead of going to sea, you can always opt for a simple green foliage (which is sure to put on a cake!) and a pattern of marriage – a figurine of a spouse or sugar anything else you like.

Waitrose offers high quality cake already iced and decorated. The same goes for Debenhams and John Lewis. These cost a little more than a standard supermarket cakes, because they are a little more special and professional, but cost much less than Full custom cake.

You might also consider a trip to Marks and Spencer, which have a good selection of cakes – Provide a special service where they make cakes to order for you. A selection of the bases of all the cakes, you'll find everything from cookies to cakes and even fruit cakes chocolate. You can specify the size and design of the cake and leave it in white and clear for you to decorate, or ask them to add some sugar flowers and other decorations. The price is about £ 150 or so for a three-layer cake, which compares very well with the prices that designers the wedding cake will be charged. Like supermarkets, they also have an extensive pre-packaged and that you can buy yourself the battery.

At the upper end of the street, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols have both fine dining and – not surprisingly – an excellent selection pre-packaged cakes. Selfridges also has a bespoke service that can work very well.

Finally, if you're on a tight budget, do not reject the idea of using good quality chocolate cakes or pots arranged on a screen at levels that could serve as a dessert or leave the screen for people to help themselves later in the proceedings. You might even bin the idea of "cake" together and opt for Krispy Kreme (overlapping classes) or a more continental croquembouche!
