Weddings – the Special Day of Life’s Calendar
http://www.articleblast.com/index.php
There are several special events in one’s life – birthdays, graduation and more, but none can come close to that extra special, occasion, a wedding. This is an occasion when two hearts, minds and souls unite in an eternal commitment of love, a feeling so excruciatingly pleasurable which makes weddings the once in a lifetime, occasion, they are. From the traditional, to the bizarre, weddings have seen it all over the centuries. It wasn’t too long ago when weddings were confined to customary traditions, rituals and accepted formulas that varied in nature from culture to culture, ethnic group to ethnic group, and country to country. Today however, there are numerous couples who are clamouring for change in the style and nature of their weddings, setting aside tradition, in the hope that their big day will be different and therefore a memorable one.
Following the desire to have a totally different concept for tying the knot, many couples have exchanged vows by doing such bizarre things as getting married underwater in a swimming pool, in a hot air balloon or even while sky diving. It is acts such as these which give the couple and their guests something extraordinary to remember. With millions of people tying the knot each year, a wedding is not just an institution, but has become a lucrative industry today. This is due to the fact that there are a limitless number of wedding concepts, themes, gifts, accessories, venues and more to suit just about any wedding budget or style that one can imagine.
Exotic places around the world are today, not just honeymoon destinations, but venues for the wedding itself. In addition to this, beach weddings are becoming extremely popular among numerous couples owing to the romantic and scenic atmosphere that such a location presents. As a matter of choice, weddings can be quiet, solemn and intimate affairs, or as ostentatiously lavish as couples could afford. In their drive to be different, many couples are increasingly opting for theme-orientated, weddings, for example, Las Vegas theme, winter theme, beach theme, garden or spring theme, poker theme, destination theme and many, many more. What makes such theme weddings possible are the availability of several professional and experienced wedding planners as well as décor, gifts, accessories, props and material of every size, colour, form and texture. However, as exciting as weddings may be, it takes some serious planning, time and money to make them the occasions they are meant to be, i.e., memorable ones. Moreover, putting together all aspects of a wedding can also be difficult should a couple decide to plan and execute things on their own.
Fortunately, today most couples have the luxury of professional help that their grandparents did not. Such help has taken the stress associated with planning weddings and put all the excitement, joy and fun back into them. If you are planning to say “I do” shortly, remember, there are many wedding professionals out there who are saying “I can do anything for you”, too. So, go ahead, tie that know without hesitation.

Is it possible to have a nice wedding w/o going into debt?
I am getting married in late summer, early fall of 2011. I will be my own wedding planner, which means I will have the joy of doing everything myself. I am looking into cutting vendors out as well, for example I will be acting as my own florist, decorator, DJ, etc(of course I will have help from friends and family).
My fiance and i both agree, we don’t want to spend a lot of money on the wedding.
Is this something that can be achieved?
What is a realistic budget?
Where do I Start?
Has anyone done a do it yourself wedding?
Anything would help me.
thank you
it is possible. what budget have you set yourself? how much have you saved up? how much are your/his parents contributing?
if you want to go extremely cheap, dont expect a big, beautiful wedding. you can have a loveley, intimate wedding that would be just as good if thats what you’re after, but if you’re doing everything yourself dont expect it to be perfect. you arent a florist, so your flower arrangements might not be perfect. if you bake your own wedding cake (or get mum or granny to do it), it wont look like the ones at wedding cake shops. but there are ways to cut corners in everything, and if having a wedding soon is more important than having a wedding with a higher budget, go for it!
weddings can be done for as little as $2,000. you can definantly tell the difference between that and a wedding which has a budget of $25,000 but its do-able. its the same as with anything, you get what you pay for.
heaps of people do diy weddings, wedding planners are definantly not a necessity.
as for where to start, before you look at venues, before you look at dates, find out your budget. ask parents, work out how much REALISTICALLY you can spend. next, sit down with your fiance and write a list of what is important to you and what isnt, in order. you might want to invest in a really good photographer, but dont care about the cake. your fiance might thinks its really important to have good food, and isnt fussed about decorations. come to a compromise and divide the budget accordingly. i would recommend you buy a bridal magazine. if you can have a few, thats good, but even just one good one will do. if you get one that has a “wedding planner” in it, it will help you so much. mine has tips on how to save that you might not think of, a time-line, and a list of all the things you need in a wedding. try to keep organised. if you write lists and keep a folio, you will be able to keep track of everything you’ve done, if not you might forget something, or accidentally do it twice.
good luck, and dont forget yahoo answers! there are heaps of women on here who would love to give you advice and tips. just remember to take everything with a pinch of salt, there are some real nasty people on this site!
