Etymology
Kantha The word has no etymological root satisfactorily. The exact time of origin is not known with Kantha precision, but it probably had a forerunner in Jeta (khet in Hindi and Bengali means "field"). According to Zaman Niaz original word for Kantha kontha Sanskrit word meaning Kantha cloth is made of rags.
