Touring Tipperary, Ireland (part of)

I spent a pleasant few days in County Tipperary in June (09). East divided into the North Tipperary Tipperary (where the local vehicle registration is TN) and Tipperary South (where the vehicle registration is TS). It is in the province of Munster and has good road and rail from Dublin. (About less than two hours drive from Dublin.

The county is located in the region Central and borders the counties of Waterford in the South, Kilkenny, Laois and Offaly, east, north from Galway and Cork, Limerick and Clare in the west.

Although my wife was taking a course of four days in Thurles Tipperary North Tipperary Institute needed to find housing Dogs allowed. There several hotels in Ireland who are "pets, but to investigate this in the Internet, most seem to be in the west of Ireland. We stayed in one of these last June to Renvyle in Connemara. Ultimately I found Ashleypark House, near Nenagh on a website that lists B & B accommodation that is pet friendly.

Although they have a very informative website full of information and superb photos, I used the old way of contacting them – Telephone to solve our booking system. They have a small apartment adjacent property and renovated cottage gardeners can be hired for rental or a mixture of supermarkets and food in the main house.

We drove to Dublin on a hot sunny Thursday afternoon using the new toll system on the M50 motorway and N4, M4, M6, and through the famous Irish whiskey Tullamore Dew Tullamore. We found the house after asking a couple of locals, although is well signposted from the N52 road and the AA route planner directions were good.

Ashleypark House is located on 76 acres of woods gardens and a lake with two entrances, two flags of the gate has a length of about 1 km. It is an old farmhouse dating from the 18 was restored by its present owners. It is full of character and also provide accommodation and breakfast is excellent four course dinner with wine.

The first night we were in a room with a view to a new lawn covered terrace which houses peacocks and roosters. Since not race up to this time nearly eleven year and becomes the light just after 3, these birds do not sleep much and you are calling from just after 3.30 and are noisy. Sean owner exceptionally Active 80 + resident of the house suggested moving to a room at the front of the house has a view over the lake and much quieter. This was the fourth President Mary McAleese to stay a few years ago. What an honor for our dog of Irish descent sleep in the same room as the president had asleep!

The house was very well that cost about 100 € per person per night for a bed (with bathroom), breakfast Full Irish, a four-course dinner dinner with coffee or tea and that included wine. The wine prices range from 22 € to 30 € the bottle on average (and we found a very good in red € 25 a bottle).

Every day, I had to take my wife in Thurles (40 + km) and in exchange for a full Irish breakfast and a tour with my mother who came with us and the dog Joss. The first day we explored the region – Tipperary Lakeside District Lough Derg Shannon. Lough Derg is the largest lake on the River Shannon. Although not a device of the lake, you can drive different villages around him. Taking a visit to the new building "Cottage pub Ballycommon a factory shop was also a great day. The area was Full of new construction of many large properties with electric doors to illustrate the richness of Ireland in recent years.

The second day we went shopping in Nenagh. Nenagh town is a great success Irish Midlands. Not only seemed to be a store that has closed and the city has a central monitoring of their ancestors, a cinema, a modern shopping complex in the city and many traditional businesses in the city. There are some stores who for years have been described as "windows." These establishments are in 2 / 3 floors and gentlemen and ladies clothing, fabric furnishings, furniture, etc. A summer Gough O'Keefe Naughton and curtains shop and each shop is well stocked and well fulfilled.

After shopping we moved to Limerick, driving in the outskirts of town is now similar to a large city Ireland, where the output of inner cities are full of retail stores in the United Kingdom. The city is not large and, unfortunately, is a reputation in recent years for gang activity. This seems to be family members of a band of gang members to attack others. This should not delay visitors the city has many beautiful streets and a large stage.

Shannon crossed again and moved to Co Clare and stopped Bunratty Castle. This beautiful old castle that has a popular village "next to him is well worth a visit." d was then twenty years before that date does not go through the city. They hold a medieval banquet in the castle. Bunratty now has a bypass, but it was well designed and certainly do not miss the bifurcation of the main N18. Limerick Bunratty and within walking distance of Shannon Airport.

It is a popular place for spend the holidays with a great development of rental properties managed by the dream "of Ireland" undertaking they have many properties jmlvillas.com site. We parked outside which is one of Durty Nelly's most famous pubs in Ireland.

After coffee in the complex craft airy shop we moved to the small roads, following signs to Sixmilebridge. It is a small picturesque village with a bar by a stream that has a miniature version of the tavern side called the "Duck Inn". Depending on the costs recent Parliament of the United Kingdom in the series, when a deputy asked for costs of participation by the floating duck house on the island, I could not not resist taking some pictures of the floating duck pub. "

Then follow the signs for Knappogue Castle. I remember going there during a summer visit to Ireland with members of the family for over thirty years for a medieval banquet. The most popular, even in Bunratty has been reserved what we had to Knappogue, not so much the tourist route. This Saturday in June which was deserted, the weather at that time had changed to rain, but opinions have said they still have these banquets and weddings there.

The next goal is to drive through Limerick and Thurles Nenagh take the road would be off the road. You need a card with people through the signaling Thurles deliberately not until about 30 km away. Although rain has been a boost through the quaint villages, most of which have a shop, pub and church. Somewhat as the previous day was a great number of houses built in recent years and the property, old and new are in very good condition. No doubt the owners would be working in Limerick.

Wherever he was going to be in a remote city or town, there are hundreds of photos posters of candidates in local elections and elections to the Irish Parliament, to be held in Ireland on Friday. Visit to Ireland a couple more weeks Event, something was missing with all the lampposts and telegraph poles revealed when these posters were. He more so than when the Christmas decorations are down in the twelfth night with only the odd sheet shows through the net proceeds.

Before arriving the Tipperary Institute, Thurles drove around him, even if it rained you have a very good idea of the city. This city is filled with a large successful shops, pubs and restaurants.

Sunday was the last day of hiking and as we were in Tipperary could not miss the opportunity visit itself Tipperary. The day was warm and sunny to extinguish the family Nenagh Thurles road down a very bumpy road at a time particular has become a single track road with grass in the center, somewhat similar to those properties as large home Ashleypark House. The worrying factor is that there were not many places to pass, and, fortunately, there was traffic coming the other way.

The car was very low in petrol and no village was quaint gas stations. We Tipperary outside without incident and updates of the tank car.

Tipperary is very similar to Thurles, Nenagh and local towns. After looking around, we propose Thurles again this time along the road through Cashel, one of the most spectacular sights of Ireland and one of the most popular. It is home of the iconic Rock of Cashel.

Monday was the day to leave the house Ashleypark a place that was so peaceful. A boat available for guests at the lake and lots of walks and the bonus is that they accept dogs.

There are so many people who travel with dogs in Ireland, which seems very strange that no more stores that accept pets. Perhaps the economy has been so good for so long they have had full employment without encouraging people with pets. Now that the levels of tourism will be lower and fewer visitors from Great Britain because of the ferry high cost across the Irish Sea (a contrast to go to France) and the weakness of sterling against the euro, the hotels have watch your market and the restrictions they impose.

Home Ashleypark in a list with "Hidden Spain" 30 by the same type of housing in locations around Ireland. In addition Ashleypark House had only one other house advertising to allow pets and if so, stating that "Kennels and stables available." It is unfortunate that others are not pets, as they go in search of a Another area to visit next year.

It appears that prices in general should be revised to attract more custom. I found hotels in Malahide, near Dublin, the other day that a pint of Kilkenny cost € 4.90, which is higher the same mark in the south of France. A pint of beer back in my local pub in England costs around £ 3.00 so it is necessary to examine costs to attract the tourist industry.

About Dublin, we lived and N7 Roscrea before negotiating the number of M50 again, paying rights that both local SPAR store rather than online.

After visiting Ireland in the past 35 years, was really great to go to Tipperary for the first time and managed to cover a large part of the county, and Tipperary North East! It is a very prosperous to visit and get a great reception and the prices seem to be much, much better than the value of Dublin.
